After reverse engineering the original kernel, some hackers havegotten their own version of Linux to run on the iPhone, proving thatthe first gen iPhone will live on as a hacker and hobbyists tool for adecade. They’ve got BusyBox running on the processor and the team reports that the following systems are working:

- Framebuffer driver
- Serial driver
- Serial over USB driver
- Interrupts, MMU, clock, etc.

What we have in openiboot (but hasn’t been ported yet):

- Read-only support for the NAND

What we don’t have (yet!):

- Write support for the NAND
- Wireless networking
- Touchscreen
- Sound
- Accelerometer
- Baseband support
